News (as of October 2020):

  • Happy Fall! Well, since in-person theater doesn't seem to be returning until sometime in 2021, I'm still doing Zoom projects and trying to get work in TV/film. Since my last post, I've done one Zoom performance (as Essie in You Can't Take It With You), three Shakespeare monologue nights, and several Zoom musical readings -- playing Abigail Adams in 1776, Bea in Something Rotten, Jack's Mother in Into the Woods and Emma Goldman in Assassins, among other roles. I got to play Serafina in The Rose Tattoo during a Tennessee Williams scene study workshop over the summer. I just started rehearsals as Hostess Nell Quickly for a Zoom production of Henry V in November, and the theater benefit I was working on may be going online as well. On the other side of things, I'm co-creating a musical with a composer/music director friend of mine.

  • One more project: I was in a live reading of "Catherine and Petruchio" (David Merrick's version of "Taming of the Shrew") with Instant Shakespeare Company, and it was saved to YouTube. If you want to see me Shrew it up, here's the link!

  • FYI, this is probably the last time I'll be updating this site as is ... I've hired website pro Ashlee Mundy to give the place a whole new professional look! Check out her work at www.ashleemundy.com/websites

Past Update (July 2020):

  • Happy Summer! .... Well, good thing I wasn't planning on doing anything big in March, huh?? I've been staying indoors and trying not to get sick, and so far it's worked! *Fingers and toes and everything crossed* that I stay that way, especially as my family and I are going on a week-long socially distanced trip to the Jersey Shore.

  • I'm happy to announce that I received a Josie Award nomination for Best Performance by an Adult Female for my turn as Muriel Eubanks last fall! The full list of nominees are here. Usually they have an awards ceremony in June but that's been delayed - however, just being nominated alongside so many talented performers and seeing our production nominated as well is gratifying to me!

  • Despite the fact that no theater is going on right now, I'm actually booked for the time being! I'm working on a new musical and we'll have our first read-through this week. It's not guaranteed that I'll be staying in my role through the workshop process but it's a different thing for me to work on an original piece and I appreciate the opportunity. I'm also committed to a theater benefit once theater is back up and running, so I'm working on music for that. There have also been some fun readings (playing Jenny in Company) and some Shakespeare monologue nights.

Past Update (January 2020):

  • Happy New Year! After the wild ride I had playing Muriel Eubanks last November and December, I enjoyed Christmas/Chanukah/my family's December birthdays, and am ready to get back to work in the coming months. The original idea was to lie low until March, but if the right project comes along I may start a little earlier. I do plan on taking a four-week tap class on Monday nights in February to live out my Ruby Keeler fantasies. I'll never be a great hoofer, but I've always wanted to be a decent one. :)

Past Update (October 2019):

  • This fall I'm putting on my musical theater hat in a rare appearance in a musical. (I love them, but as a character actress with a low belt and a legit soprano voice, I'm not usually right for them.) I'm currently in rehearsals as Muriel Eubanks in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - which marks my second time playing a Joanna Gleason role. (I also played the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods.) It's a zany part and I'm having a ball!

  • Is Twin Peaks really coming back, because I need to be a part of that in some capacity! Call me, Johanna Ray and Krista Husar! :)

  • After three semesters at HB Studio in 2019, I'm on an acting class hiatus. I've enjoyed my time at HB but want to focus on working.

  • In August I spent two days working on the film New York Christmas Wedding! Though I didn't have a speaking role, it was helpful to gain more experience around a set and to practice staying in character over a long day. I should be getting an IMDB credit out of it in the next few months - and as a fan of holiday movies, I'm looking forward to seeing it and trying to spot my face! :)

  • I had a photo shoot in Astoria Park over the summer with Shoott and added a few photos on this website! I recommend their location shooting for an inexpensive, hassle-free way to get some professional photos. (They were more lifestyle shoots than headshot photos - for those, I recommend City Headshots, ACV Photography or Anthony Robert Grasso.)

  • Are you looking for some resume help or coaching from a supportive professional? I recommend talking to Amanda Brooke Lerner of The Actor & the Biz.
